![]() I think the game flourishes the most when it comes to world building. These characters however do have motivations, even though most are pretty one note. ![]() It also has 40+ playable characters, but only about 5 of them are involved with the main storyline. It never made its way to Europe, so for many a possible remake would finally. Though, I actually do like that it is mostly its own story, and while strange the connection to Trigger does make sense. Chrono Cross, a sequel to the acclaimed SNES JRPG Chrono Trigger, was released on the PS1 in 1999 in Japan and the US. There is also very little motivation given to characters at the beginning, especially one of the major villains (which their motivation is only told at the end in an optional exposition dump, and it honestly doesn’t make sense imo.) Players are probably more likely to go deeper into the story just to figure out how it connects to Trigger, which it does but in a very abstract way. There are also some strange story choices. The story is also good for the most part, but it suffers from a lot of major details being told through text exposition, especially disc 2 where you can tell they we’re running out of budget. The combat is interesting but the game doesn’t explain the stamina aspect at all, which is probably the part that would confuse most players. Square Enix eventually retooled a number of. Was it nice? Is my memory betraying me? It’s good, but not nearly as good as Trigger imo. True Sequel If any of this sounds familiar to you, then you probably have played the real sequel to Chrono Trigger: the PS1 exclusive Chrono Cross. I've played CT dozens of times but CC only once.
